Boot Toppers

I love the look of hand-knit socks, and I don’t even mind turning the heels, but somehow my second sock always lingers unfinished…

A quick pattern suggestion for boot toppers in two sizes using a Straws Farm Island Sheep fingering weight Mini-skein kit, meant to fit above tall boots (below the knee) and above short boots (above the ankle). The toppers for short boots also make good armwarmers. For ease of use, the pattern contains charts for both toppers in both colorways. Available free here.

Mittlets

Another fun knit using Straw’s Farm Island Sheep fingering weight mini skein sets. Perfect light mitts for the shoulder seasons featuring a buttonhole thumb.

Salt Bay Mittlet

Salt Bay Mittlet

I originally designed both mittlet patterns using my Coopworth 3-Ply Sport, which is now out of stock. They knit up wonderfully using my DK weight yarns though, and both patterns are free on Ravelry here.  If you do not have a Ravelry account, feel free to email me and I will be happy to send you a copy of either pattern.

Gloves

Winter Sanquhar Gloves Antartica.jpg

Beth Brown-Reinsel has designed a wonderful pattern for Sanquhar gloves using my 3 Ply Cotswold x Romney fingering weight.  The pattern was originally published in the Spring 2014 issue of Knitting Traditions Magazine, or you find it here on Ravelry, or her DVD on Sanquhar gloves, featuring her pattern, from her etsy page, here.

Sweaters/Ganseys

Jenn's Yoke Circular.jpg

Jennifer Steingass designed her lovely Arboreal yoked sweater pattern using Upton Yarns DK weight Bluefaced Leicester. I got a bit carried away when it came to knitting my own version of it, and ended up putting together a few yoke kits
